Forest Friends

Well we have had 4 raccoons visiting the Dome. Rascal the cat has a special door that swings open and closed. The raccoons must have watched him disappear into the wall. Then they followed. I used an alive trap to catch the one by one and moved them lower down the mountain. Sorry guys.

How to Procede

I've come to a point today where I just don't exactly know what to do next.  I mean I know what needs to be done but just what is the best way to accomplish it, is the tricky part.  How to run the water pipes on the interior of the dome.  Where exactly to put them.  This may seem simple but it's not (is it?).  There seems to be only one good solution.  Running them in the walls, is to complex, since they turn so many times.  At least that is true over to the bathroom.  I think I will go overhead on these ,through the floor supports which are fairly heavy.  I have to go back and study this some more.Nerd

Holidays move in

As the Holidays moves in I find it harder to concentrate on building the Dome. One has to keep the fire going and the sky is almost always grey.

I'm working up in the Cupola and it is warmer up there right now.

I have gotten most of the ceiling dry walled and mudded once.  I then went to work on the rest of the window sills and their surrounding surfaces.  It took over 40 pieces of wood paneling to accomplish this. The floor is also better now, having the hole for the spiral steps, having been cut in and the rafters re-enforced.

Today I'm trying to work on the wall board that goes around the windows on the flat walls of the Cupola.  I'm also installing finishing strips of plastic where they touch the inset windows. Well, I wish myself good luck as I push forward.

It sure is pretty looking out the windows at the colored leaves on the mountainside.  I guess that's the beauty of this project in the Cupola.  Have a great HOLIDAY SEASON!!!

All Alone

For some reason I feel all alone here today. I have been working on the Dome four years now and have gotten a lot done. Every day I get closer to finnishing. But something is making me feel alone. Rascal the cat and a nice fire comfort me but I am not so inspired as I have been in the past.

I truely wonder if Iwill be able to finnis this project. It just gets harder and harder. I seem to always overcome these challenges but now I wonder about how much work I am accomplishing and if I will run out of funds.

I guess there always is a solution but it seems a litte clouded these days.
There is still so much to do. I know I should focus on how much has been done.

Cold and Windy

Today the sun shines bright but the air is cold and the wind in up. I went on a fast walk and collected my thoughts. This I do every morning to set my day into order.

Now to see what the day brings.

Working Alone

I don't feel alone any more. I feel someone is always with me now.
I like listening to the audio tapes and CD's I get from the library and books from the web. The work is going at an acceptable pace although it is slow. I just try to do my best and work hard most days. My life seems a lot fuller now also. I seem to go out and see people, which is something I haven't done for a long time. I feel confident that I will be able to finish the project even if I don't see any way to finally pay fo it yet. Things are better.

Fall

Leaves fall from the trees ian all colors. Time is changing once more. The air is cool on my walks. We will see how long this last since it has just begun.

Set-Up Time

One of the most frustrating things in building is set-up time.

To work on the downstairs sheet rock again, I had to take apart the scaffold and take it down stairs. Then I had to re-assemble it. Then I had to move many things to give myself room to move the scaffold around the edge of the main open wall. Now I will have to lower another set of scaffolding that sits way up and put this 2nd section on to give me the height I need to work from.

All this is very frustrating for no wall goes up while the set-up takes place. But lots of work gets done.

I guess this is true for most any endeavor but it certainly takes the momentum out of the project.

Today I hope to get some sheet rock up by just building a cinderblock and board shelf on top of the 1st scaffold set-up. We will see how effective this is before I have to lower the second section.

Start the Fireplace

A nice small fire warms the soul.
I will have to order up some wood soon.
I am using last years aged oak.
It makes a nice few moments each day to sit by the fire and warm up.
I don't need to keep it going more than an hour or so.
What a pleasure.

Yesterday I primed the wall in Zebs wall. Today I hope to paint it, take down a scaffold, finish re-hooking up the fixture and order another fan.

Secret Garden

My Dome is my secret garden built in a field of dreams.

The sun has favored us yesterday and it looks as if today it will shine for moments between clouds.

The garden grows slowly but pretty steadily, while I tend it. Today I hope to get electric up to the third floor (Cupola). pulling wire isn't so bad just getting prepared is difficult. Drilling holes and slowly getting the right amount of wire passed up to each floor.

Yesterday was the best sun day yet. I laid in the sun for awhile as if it were already spring.

Finally I made a fire to bring back up the temp inside.

Well today is a new day.

New Morning

This morning I went out to look at the snow

and found thousands of diamonds glistening in it.

It must have been the temperature and the sun light.

Small things like this make the day so special.

The Snow Comes Again

This morning I awoke to windows covered with snow. It is a beautiful site. The snow seems colder than usual as I carried in the fire wood.

It's peaceful days like today that make living here so unique. The quiet, the soft snow, the warm fire and the cat.

My wiring projects seem to be coming alone pretty well. I got the master bathroom almost finished yesterday and today I will complete it.

The earth sleeps under its carpet of white. I listen to beautiful music.

ENJOY YOUR LIFE

FROM "DAILY OM"
The Time of Your Life
Learning to Slow Down

Throughout our lives, we are taught to value speed and getting things done quickly. We learn that doing is more valuable than merely being, and that making the most of life is a matter of forging ahead at a hurried pace. Yet as we lurch forward in search of some elusive sense of fulfillment, we find ourselves feeling increasingly harried and disconnected. More importantly, we fail to notice the simple beauty of living. When we learn to slow down, we rediscover the significance of seemingly inconsequential aspects of life. Mealtimes become meditative celebrations of nourishment. A job well-done becomes a source of profound pleasure, no matter what the nature of our labors. In essence, we give ourselves the gift of time—time to indulge our curiosity, to enjoy the moment, to appreciate worldly wonders, to sit and think, to connect with others, and to explore our inner landscapes more fully.

A life savored slowly need not be passive, inefficient, or slothful. Conducting ourselves at a slower pace enables us to be selective in how we spend our time and to fully appreciate each passing moment. Slowness can even be a boon in situations that seem to demand haste. When we pace ourselves for even a few moments as we address urgent matters, we can center ourselves before moving ahead with our plans. Embracing simplicity allows us to gradually purge from our lives those commitments and activities that do not benefit us in some way. The extra time we consequently gain can seem like vast, empty stretches of wasted potential. But as we learn to slow down, we soon realize that eliminating unnecessary rapidity from our experiences allows us to fill that time in a constructive, fulfilling, and agreeable way. We can relish our morning rituals, linger over quality time with loved ones, immerse ourselves wholeheartedly in our work, and take advantage of opportunities to nurture ! ourselves every single day.

You may find it challenging to avoid giving in to the temptation to rush, particularly if you have acclimated to a world of split-second communication, cell phones, email and overflowing agendas. Yet the sense of continuous accomplishment you lose when you slow down will quickly be replaced by feelings of magnificent contentment. Your relaxed tempo will open your mind and heart to deeper levels of awareness that help you discover the true gloriousness of being alive.

Rainy Days

A Day with Rain

Where is Rascal?

He goes out every night

And returns every morning.

I guess he’s hold up under something

That’s keeping him dry

And can’t hear me call

Over the noise of the rain.

Well it’s a good day for a fire

And we will try to start one soon.

It’s a good day to try and understand

The “ONE” leak I still have

And maybe patch it.

Rainy days are different than sunny days.

You find things to do inside

And make your own sunlight.

 Rascal is HOME now;he's fine.

I think he hid in a drain pipe that doesn't carry any water.

The Sky

I awoke to a beautiful sky of baby blue and pink.
As I lay in bed I could see out
the large cluster of 5 sky lights
and the sky was so beautiful.

It sure is cold this morning.
You can see your breath inside.
The floor is 50 degrees.
Outside says 23 dregrees.
Guess I'll check the weather report to find out if
I really cold. HA!!

I think today Rascal should get a cat door.
I might be up to making it.
Need to find some small hinges and cut a small
hole in the wall.

The sun hits in the Cupola 1st.
I'm going up to be in it.

It's hard to describe how beautiful it is up there.
The sun comes over the mountain and
lights up pockets of trees.
They become so bright that
the rest of the trees seem to vanish
Slowly more and more trees light up.
The air is fresh and I lean out a window
with my coffee
Just enjoying being. This is life.!!!!!!!
